What we analyse

Our AI analysis engine works from your carrier invoice, shipment records, and order data to build a consignment-level model of your entire freight spend — processing hundreds or thousands of consignments consistently and automatically. Here's what gets examined.

Cost breakdown

Base charge, fuel surcharge, and all other surcharges — separated, quantified, and benchmarked as a percentage of total spend.

Weight & volumetric analysis

Dead weight vs. volumetric weight vs. chargeable weight — per consignment. Flags where dimensional billing is driving cost.

Service & carrier mix

How your volume splits across service tiers, carriers, and weight bands. Where you're over-servicing (Express where Standard would do).

Geographic spend profile

Cost by state and postcode. Identifies expensive delivery zones that may warrant a free shipping threshold adjustment or zone surcharge review.

What you charged customers for shipping vs. what it cost — per order, in aggregate, and as a percentage of total order value. Quantifies your free shipping subsidy.

Ranked recommendations — up to 10 items

Each recommendation includes: the specific issue identified, the supporting evidence from your data, the recommended fix, an estimated monthly saving in AUD, and an effort rating. Framed as scenarios, never as directives — you decide what to act on and when.

Written 1-page report

A plain-language executive summary — key metrics, top 3 findings, top 3 recommendations, and data notes. Formatted to be forwarded to a business partner, carrier account manager, or operations team without context.

What data we need from you

You don't need to clean or reformat anything. We provide step-by-step export guides for every major platform.

  • Carrier invoice — CSV or Excel from AusPost, Allied, Sendle, or similar. Ideally 3+ months.
  • Shipment records — Article-level export from Starshippit, Machship, or similar (dimensions + dead weight per carton).
  • Orders data — Optional but recommended. Export from Shopify, WooCommerce, or similar. Used to calculate shipping margin.

What's not included

FreightGauge is a productised service with a fixed scope. These things are out of scope at the $299 tier.

Common questions

How do I send you my data?

Via email after you get in touch. We'll confirm what we need and you send the files directly — no upload portal, no login. All data is handled securely and used only for your analysis.

What if I don't have shipment dimension data?

The analysis still runs — we note the gap and flag what can't be calculated (volumetric weight, chargeable weight basis, bulky flag). We'll tell you exactly what you're missing out on by not having it, which is often useful in itself.

Do I need to be an AusPost customer?

No. FreightGauge works with any Australian domestic carrier — AusPost, Allied Express, Sendle, TNT, Couriers Please, and others. If you use multiple carriers, we can analyse all of them together.

How much data do I need?

A minimum of one month's invoice data to produce meaningful findings. Three months is ideal — it gives enough volume to identify trends and remove anomalies. If your business is seasonal, include the peak period.

What does "AI-powered" actually mean here?

FreightGauge uses AI to process, clean, and analyse your freight data at a consignment and article level — tasks that would take a human analyst days to do manually. The AI identifies patterns, flags outliers, calculates volumetric weight across every consignment, and surfaces findings ranked by financial impact. The recommendations are reviewed and validated by a logistics professional before delivery.

Is GST included in the price?

No — $299 is ex-GST. FreightGauge is not currently GST registered, so no GST applies at this time.
